Saver Message or red Battery Indicator displayed in the Driver Information Center. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code P0AF8 set in history. Technician will need to the 12 volt battery using the GR8 Battery tester. The technician will need to perform the Direct current Power Conversion Test published in Global Service Information to check for maximum current and voltage output. This test requires the use of a Carbon Pyle load tester. In addition, the technician can select the 14V Power Module Control Function in the Engine Control Module and Accessory Power Module Setpoint in the Body Control Module by using the Scan Tool in order to check that the system is able to respond to current loads. If the test fails, if there were low voltage Diagnostic Trouble Codes or P0AF8 was set, the technician should confirm that the 200 amp fuse located in the X50D Fuse Block is torqued to correct specification. Technician should check the voltage on both sides of the 200 amp Fuse while there is a load applied and comparing the voltage readings. Voltage drop can be checked from the positive battery post to the Accessory Power Module side of the 200 amp fuse as well. If the Accessory Power Module will output current under a load but the voltage is low on both sides of the fuse when compared to the voltage output at the Accessory Power Module, check the following Service Information for any other Diagnostic Trouble Codes that may have led to the low voltage condition, Accessory Power Module output terminal is clean and torqued to specification, The Accessory Power Module output cable ring terminal is properly seated to the Accessory Power Module output terminal post and its condition, and test the voltage drop on the ground cables to the engine block, transmission, body and chassis to ensure they are within specification.

GM does not endorse any repairs that involve welding, bending, straightening o re-machining. Only cosmetic refinishing of the wheel's coatings, using recommended procedures, is allowed. Evaluating Damage In evaluating damage, it is the GM Dealer's responsibility to inspect the wheel for corrosion, scrapes, gouges, etc. The Dealer must insure that such damage is not deeper than what can be sanded or polished off. The wheel must be inspected for cracks. If cracks are found, discard the wheel. Any wheels with bent rim flanges must not be repaired or refinished. Wheels that have been refinished by an outside company must be returned to the same vehicle. The Dealer must record the wheel ID stamp or the cast date on the wheel in order to assure this requirement. Refer to Refinisher's Responsibility Outside Company later in this bulletin.

Vehicle Soon Lamp or Check Engine Lamp is on. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code P0534. Technician will use a scan tool to check for all Diagnostic Trouble Codes that are set, but should not delete any Diagnostic Trouble Codes found. Technician should also capture any Freeze Frame data in a Global Diagnostic System 2 Session Log. Technician will need to inspect the Rechargeable Energy Storage System and replace if it has three notches. On Volt and Ampera models check the Hybrid Processor Control Module 2 for having the latest software. Technician should update the Hybrid Processor Control Module 2 with the latest calibrations if need. If the module is up to date use Global Diagnostic System 2 to monitor the High and Low Side Refrigerant Pressures with the Air Conditioner Compress or Speed with the Heater-Vent-Air Conditioning temperature to maximum cold, high blower speed. Technician should follow published Service Information diagnostics if Diagnostic Trouble Code P0534 sets. If the technician finds both the High and Low Side Refrigerant Pressures are found to be low then connect the Refrigerant Recovery/Recharge Air Condition machine and check the Refrigerant level. Technician should follow ?Refrigerant Loss? in Service Information Diagnostics if the refrigerant level is less than 800 grams. When working on Spark Electric Vehicle technician should follow all published Service Information diagnostics before and other diagnostics or repairs. Technician should use the GE 50300 Refrigerant Recovery/Recharge Air Condition machine and check the R1234yf Refrigerant level. If the Refrigerant level is low technician should follow published Service Information diagnostics. If the Refrigerant level is over 500 grams technician will use Global Diagnostic System 2 to verify if the Remote Heater and Air Conditioning Module is up to date and update if n

Technician should drive the vehicle will using the Pico Oscilloscope to record data. After the data is recorded it should be reviewed to determine the root cause of the concern. If a repair attempt made the concern better but not eliminated or had no affect at all, and are requesting assistance from General Motors Technical Assistance Center record another Pico file and save it to the computer. Vehicle Soon Lamp or Check Engine Lamp is on. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code P0534. Technician will use a scan tool to check for all Diagnostic Trouble Codes that are set, but should not delete any Diagnostic Trouble Codes found. Technician should also capture any Freeze Frame data in a Global Diagnostic System 2 Session Log. Technician will need to inspect the Rechargeable Energy Storage System and replace if it has three notches. On Volt and Ampera models check the Hybrid Processor Control Module 2 for having the latest software. Technician should update the Hybrid Processor Control Module 2 with the latest calibrations if need. If the module is up to date use Global Diagnostic System 2 to monitor the High and Low Side Refrigerant Pressures with the Air Conditioner Compress or Speed with the Heater-Vent-Air Conditioning temperature to maximum cold, high blower speed. Technician should follow published Service Information diagnostics if Diagnostic Trouble Code P0534 sets. If the technician finds both the High and Low Side Refrigerant Pressures are found to be low then connect the Refrigerant Recovery/Recharge Air Condition machine and check the Refrigerant level. Technician should follow ?Refrigerant Loss? in Service Information Diagnostics if the refrigerant level is less than 800 grams. When working on Spark Electric Vehicle technician should follow all published Service Information diagnostics before and other diagnostics or repairs. Technician should use the GE 50300 Refrigerant Recovery/Recharge Air Condition machine and check the R1234yf Refrigerant level. If the Refrigerant level is low technician should follow published Service Information diagnostics. If the Refrigerant level is over 500 grams technician will use Global Diagnostic System 2 to verify if the Remote Heater and Air Conditioning Module is up to date and update if n

noise coming from the transmission assembly. Technician will need to inspect the fluid level to insure it is correct using Service Information document 3327666. Also the technician will need to check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes. Some Diagnostic Trouble Codes will cause the transmission to default to maximum line pressure that will cause a noise. If the fluid level is correct and there are no Diagnostic Trouble Codes found and the noise is coming from the inside the transmission, remove all three speed sensors for inspection. If an excessive amount of debris in found on any one of the speed sensors remove the transmission fluid pan. If there is excessive metal debris on the magnets the transmission will need to be replaced. Dealer will need to call General Motors Product Quality Center for further assistance.

Saver Message or red Battery Indicator displayed in the Driver Information Center. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code P0AF8 set in history. Technician will need to the 12 volt battery using the GR8 Battery tester. The technician will need to perform the Direct current Power Conversion Test published in Global Service Information to check for maximum current and voltage output. This test requires the use of a Carbon Pyle load tester. In addition, the technician can select the 14V Power Module Control Function in the Engine Control Module and Accessory Power Module Setpoint in the Body Control Module by using the Scan Tool in order to check that the system is able to respond to current loads. If the test fails, if there were low voltage Diagnostic Trouble Codes or P0AF8 was set, the technician should confirm that the 200 amp fuse located in the X50D Fuse Block is torqued to correct specification. Technician should check the voltage on both sides of the 200 amp Fuse while there is a load applied and comparing the voltage readings. Voltage drop can be checked from the positive battery post to the Accessory Power Module side of the 200 amp fuse as well. If the Accessory Power Module will output current under a load but the voltage is low on both sides of the fuse when compared to the voltage output at the Accessory Power Module, check the following Service Information for any other Diagnostic Trouble Codes that may have led to the low voltage condition, Accessory Power Module output terminal is clean and torqued to specification, The Accessory Power Module output cable ring terminal is properly seated to the Accessory Power Module output terminal post and its condition, and test the voltage drop on the ground cables to the engine block, transmission, body and chassis to ensure they are within specification.

Engine Soon Malfunction Indicator Lamp. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code P0442. Technician will need to review Techlink article from May 2013 titled "Using the Evaporative Emissions System Tester" Technician will need to follow these steps to help diagnose the issue. First after the P0442 has been verified do not disturb any of the fuel system components. The technician now can use the scan tool to close the Evaporative Emissions System. If possible change the tank pressure sensor units from inch_H2O to milimeter_Hg for better resolution. Now the vehicle can be stared to monitor the tank pressure sensor output value for approximately two minutes. If the tank pressure sensor value does change, pressurize the fuel tank side of the purge solenoid with the GE 41413-A / J 41413-A and the necessary adaptors. Now add smoke and allow pressure to stabilize for 2 minutes. If smoke is allowed to pass through the purge solenoid, replace the purge solenoid. If the tank pressure sensor value does not change, then install CH-48096 adaptor between the purge line from the canister and the purge solenoid. With the Evaporative Emissions System closed, pressurize the system through the CH-48096 adaptor and allow the system to completely stabilize, by observing the Press / Vac Gauge for a minimum of 5 minutes. Now add smoke to the system with GE 41413-A / J 41413-A after system stabilization. Now inspect the purge solenoid, engine side, fuel cap, canister vent solenoid filter and any line quick connects. When the leak is unable to be located, test under a vacuum condition. his type of leak may be detected by using the scan tool Purge/Seal function to create a vacuum in the Evaporative Emissions System and then observe the FTP sensor parameter for vacuum decay.

Then use Global Diagnostic System 2 to monitor the Total Knock Retard Parameter. Let the vehicle run at idle for ten seconds with the park brake turned on. Hold the brake down and place the vehicle in ?Drive? for automatic transmission or drive gear for manual gear box then bring the engine between 1800 and 2000 RPM for 10 seconds then return to idle for 5 second. Repeat this cycle 7 times. If the readings during the raised RPM testing were NOT continuously above 6.0 degrees for more than 5 seconds, no further action is required within the scope of this bulletin. If the readings during the raised RPM testing were continuously above 6.0 degrees for more than 5 seconds, the vehicle requires repair. Technician will need to verify the engine oil level is correct. After insuring the engine oil level is correct allow the engine to idle for one hour. Every 15 minutes increase the engine rpms to 2000 and hold for 5 minutes. Also the technician will need to check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes. Some Diagnostic Trouble Codes will cause the transmission to default to maximum line pressure that will cause a noise. If the fluid level is correct and there are no Diagnostic Trouble Codes found and the noise is coming from the inside the transmission, remove all three speed sensors for inspection. If an excessive amount of debris in found on any one of the speed sensors remove the transmission fluid pan. If there is excessive metal debris on the magnets the transmission will need to be replaced. Dealer will need to call General Motors Product Quality Center for further assistance.

Vehicles may have an electric range is less than customer expectations or what is being displayed on the in-vehicle display for EV range. The distance you can go in an electric vehicle varies with the outside temperature. All electric vehicles are less efficient in cold or hot conditions. This is a function of battery storage capability and increased use of cabin heat and/or air conditioning in these conditions. The vehicle must also maintain a consistent battery temperature in order to maintain desired long term performance. Tire pressure can have an impact on the electric range also. Additionally tire pressures can change with temperature changes. In order to maximize your electric range, ensure that your tires are properly inflated. For proper tire pressure, review the Owner?s manual and the vehicle tire and loading information label. Using the heat and air conditioning systems decreases the energy available for electric driving. Optimal energy efficiency is achieved with the heat, air conditioning, and fan turned off. Driving uphill requires more energy and can reduce electric range.

The customer has 3 options while traveling through the United Sates. First if the vehicle is equipped with a navigation radio they can request a "Destination Download" to the vehicle. Second if the customer uses the OnStar RemoteLink app they can send the directions to the vehicle. The third option would be to have the vehicle loaded with a ?500 phone number? The customer will no longer be able to use their Hands Free Calling minutes when the new 500 phone number is loaded. If a customer chooses to restore Hands Free Calling in the future a new phone number will be assigned to the vehicle; previous phone numbers are not available.

Stabilitrak message and a red brake lamp illuminated on the Instrument Panel Cluster. Technician may find a Diagnostic Trouble Code C0196 in the Electronic Brake Control Module. This concern may be preset after the vehicle was flat towed or just came off a car carrier. Technician will need to perform a Multi Axis sensor learn and a Diagnostic Trouble Code clear in the Electronic Brake Control Module. Then shut ignition off, open and close driver door and let vehicle sit for 3 minutes. After the vehicle has slept for 3 minutes start the vehicle and let it run in park for 10 seconds. Now the vehicle will need to be driven for 30 seconds over 20 miles per hour. If code is cleared and doesn't reset, release the vehicle to the customer. If code resets follow normal diagnosis in Service Information.

repair the vehicles that may have unwanted or phantom phone calls. Technician will need to determine what type of call the customer is having that is unwanted. The vehicle may receive an incoming call just like any other phone. Typically the customer will hear the phone ringing in the vehicle. This scenario also includes incoming Bluetooth calls. One type of unwanted call can be made if the key pad is faulty the OnStar system will try to make a blue button call for shorted voltage in the circuits. The OnStar module could have an internal fault and produce a "Phone Unavailable" audio message also it may have a Diagnostic Trouble Code U1500 or B1000. Refer to diagnostics for the Diagnostic Trouble Code making sure to follow any applicable Bulletins or Preliminary Information sheets. A "Ready" or "OnStar ready" audio message heard while driving. In some cases it has been found that the customer is inadvertently pressing the ?push to talk? button on the steering wheel controls. On rare occasions, other issues in the steering column or Steering Wheel Control system may induce this concern.
