vibration damper (harmonic balancer) and the crankshaft timing chain sprocket to the crankshaft. Once the damper is removed, the crankshaft should not be rotated unless special tool spacer T10368 has been installed. The crankshaft timing chain sprocket and spur gear drive on the crankshaft have a coupling that must be seated correctly during assembly. Failure to install special tool spacer T10368 before rotating engine will cause the engine to skip time and bend valves.

Incorrect torque converter or flywheel/flexplate installation can result in transmission damage.

When installing an engine, flywheel or transmission, please follow the installation procedures outlined in ELSA. For the flywheel/flexplate, please be certain the correct shim is installed between it and the crankshaft (reference VWIQ120). When installing a torque converter, press the torque converter hub through the seal as far as the first stop. Turn the torque converter while pushing toward the transmission using light force, until the cut outs in the torque converter hub lock into the pump wheel plate. The torque converter slides in. The torque converter is installed correctly if it is easy to turn by hand and if it fits evenly in the transmission bell housing. Additionally, it should spin freely when the transmission bell housing bolts are torqued to the engine block, prior to installation of the flywheel to converter bolts (reference VWIQ121).

This software update is designed to re-program the ECM, Power Electronics Module, and/or Battery Management Control Module with new software. The re-programming itself should carry out the updates without technician intervention. Please ensure all control module software as applicable has been updated after the flash is completed. for washer fluid remains illuminated and the washer reservoir is full. Validate the washer reservoir is full with the proper washer solvent (G-052-164). Refer to Elsa for proper fluid type and fluid quantities under repair manual, maintenance, fluid capacity table. If the fluid is not blue in color, drain the fluid, remove the sensor and clean with cleaner (D-009-401-04) or equivalent. Reinstall the sensor, top off washer reservoir with proper fluid and validate that the indicator lamp in the I.P. is no longer illuminated.

customers may report that while the vehicle is in motion, the display on the Premium 8 radio displays the ?Stationary Vehicle? driving mode. This symptom is often intermittent and can be temporarily resolved by performing a key cycle. This condition only affects vehicles equipped with Premium 8 radio. The procedure in this document corrects the concern specified above by updating the Premium 8 Radio software to the latest level 0011. The production solution for this issue was a software update SW 0011 implemented into production in CW 37/14. This document discusses the "Fault Codes" necessary to diagnosis, and potential remedy of the issue. The fault codes for checking warranty coverage for servicing the vehicle are also available.

The information provided is based on the Hunter alignment equipment, Hunter GSP9700 with StraighTrak (VAS 6230x ) and John Bean RFV2000 with OptiLine (VAS 6311A) diagnostic balancer. The alignment information provided in this bulletin is not limited to the Hunter alignment equipment, and still applies with the use of other Volkswagen approved alignment equipment. The diagnostic procedure for selective tire placement, to improve vehicle drift/pull, will require the use of one of the diagnostic balancers previously mentioned.
