vibration damper (harmonic balancer) and the crankshaft timing chain sprocket to the crankshaft. Once the damper is removed, the crankshaft should not be rotated unless special tool spacer T10368 has been installed. The crankshaft timing chain sprocket and spur gear drive on the crankshaft have a coupling that must be seated correctly during assembly. Failure to install special tool spacer T10368 before rotating engine will cause the engine to skip time and bend valves.

Incorrect torque converter or flywheel/flexplate installation can result in transmission damage.

Read full bulletin

When installing an engine, flywheel or transmission, please follow the installation procedures outlined in ELSA. For the flywheel/flexplate, please be certain the correct shim is installed between it and the crankshaft (reference VWIQ120). When installing a torque converter, press the torque converter hub through the seal as far as the first stop. Turn the torque converter while pushing toward the transmission using light force, until the cut outs in the torque converter hub lock into the pump wheel plate. The torque converter slides in. The torque converter is installed correctly if it is easy to turn by hand and if it fits evenly in the transmission bell housing. Additionally, it should spin freely when the transmission bell housing bolts are torqued to the engine block, prior to installation of the flywheel to converter bolts (reference VWIQ121).

It has been designed for engines with a torque of up to 184 lb/ft (250 Nm) of torque. The DSG transmission economy is on a par with manual transmission vehicles. The DSG transmission has succeeded in reducing fuel consumption below that of manual transmissions using technical innovations. This reduction in fuel consumption makes a significant contribution towards lowering emissions. In this SSP, users will learn how the new 0AM double-clutch transmission functions and the technical highlights that help to reduce fuel consumption.

DTC codes have been cleared, battery has been disconnected or a recharge of the 12 volt battery has taken place. The VAS PC and ODIS programs will have the technician perform this task at the end of diagnostics and module fault code erasing. This can also be accomplished without the need for a scan tool if this recalibration procedure is followed after a battery disconnect, recharging of a low 12V battery or code clearing with a generic scan tool. This document informs how the vehicle learns the Drive Motor Position.
