Flash reprogramming allows the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) software to be updated without replacing the ECU. Flash calibration updates for specific vehicle models/ECUs are released as field-fix procedures described in individual Service Bulletins. This bulletin details the Techstream ECU flash reprogramming process and outlines use of the Technical Information System (TIS) and the Calibration Update Wizard (CUW). Flash calibration updates can only be applied to the vehicle/ECU combination for which they are intended. ECUs have internal security that will not allow them to be programmed with another ECU?s information. NOTE ECU is a Toyota term used to describe integrated computerized devices responsible for managing the operation of a system or subsystem. When direct injection is started and then stopped using the active test, current ECU logic does not turn off the direct injectors and can cause DTCs P017200, P017500 and P0160300. To avoid this condition, technicians should raise engine RPM when changing back and forth between the Direct Injection and Port Injection active tests. Use the recommended procedure below to avoid this concern while testing injection mode of FKS equipped vehicles. NOTE: If the active test is used multiple times without using this procedure to raise engine RPM, it may be necessary to reset learning values for fuel trim and Air to Fuel ratio before returning vehicle to customer.

The Pre-Delivery Service (PDS) bulletin (link below) instructs technicians to perform this initialization after the D/C Cut Fuse is installed. The Repair Manual (links below) states that when any of the following conditions are met, the seat position information in the position control ECU assembly will be cleared: ?The power switch is turned off with any of the seat switches being operated and the ECU-DCC NO.2 fuse removed. ?The power switch is turned off within 1 second of any of the seat switches being operated with the ECU-DCC NO.2 fuse removed. ?Power supplied to the position control ECU assembly is cut while the seat is moving to the memorized position.

To prevent the auxiliary battery from becoming discharged during storage, proper maintenance is necessary. Perform the following maintenance service for the HV battery and auxiliary battery. NOTE ? BEFORE disconnecting the auxiliary battery, confirm the shift lever is in the ?P? position and apply the parking brake completely. The shift lever CANNOT be shifted from the ?P? position with the auxiliary battery disconnected. ? If the negative (?) terminal of the auxiliary battery is reconnected, even if the vehicle is powered ON (Ready ON), the hybrid system may NOT start. In this case, depress the brake pedal and press the Power button to start the hybrid system (the Ready light is ON). If the hybrid system still does NOT start (the Ready light is OFF), refer to the Repair Manual.

In addition, some models may also utilize retainers for passenger side and rear seat floor mats. During Pre-Delivery Service (PDS), follow the appropriate Installation Procedure to attach the driver side, and if applicable, the passenger side and rear seat floor mats to the vehicle carpet using the floor mat retainers. If installation instructions are included in the floor mat kit, place the instructions in the vehicle?s glove box for customer reference. CAUTION ? ALWAYS verify the floor mat is designed specifically for the model and model year it is being installed in. ? ONLY use floor mats that can be secured using the retainers. ALL OEM Toyota floor mats are specifically designed to fit correctly and be secured using the retainers. ? Make sure the floor mat is properly placed on the vehicle carpet and secured with the retainers. If the driver side floor mat is NOT properly placed and secured, it could slip and interfere with the movement of the pedals during driving and may cause an accident. ? Verify the operation of the accelerator, brake, and clutch (if equipped) pedals and clearance to the mat. ? NEVER install more than one floor mat at a time in the driver?s seating position. ? If applicable, ANY secondary set of floor mats (based upon customer preference, such as the all-weather floor mats or other floor mats) MUST be placed in the trunk with ALL the packaging material intact. Do NOT install the secondary mat on top of the primary floor mat already installed in the driver?s seating position.
