Provisioning is the process by which the DCM receives the subscription request and activates the related DCM features requested as outlined in the specific subscription contract. If provisioning is not successful then the DCM may remain in an inactive state and the requested services may not be activated for the customer. Field investigation has found that this may be a result of three possible conditions. * The DCM may be off the network due to vehicle storage or other network factors. * The DCM may be lacking power or ground due to some body side electrical concern. * The DCM may have an internal failure.

is initiating two service programs for certain 2015 and 2016 model year Legacy and Outback vehicles, for the repair procedure previously published in TSB number 07?89?15R. Description: Subaru has redesigned several ignition relays in order to provide improved cold weather re?starting performance. Under certain extreme cold weather conditions, after the engine is shut off, ice crystals may form inside the relay which may temporarily prevent the driver from re?starting the vehicle.

This repair procedure was previously published in TSB number 07-89-15R.

In the interest of customer satisfaction, Subaru of America, Inc. (Subaru) is now initiating a service program for certain 2015 and 2016 model year Legacy and Outback vehicles as described in this Service Program bulletin. INTRODUCTION: During ocean transportation of the EGI Main relays, moisture may be absorbed into them from exposure to very high ambient humidity conditions. During normal operation, this moisture is heated by the relay?s electric coils and evaporated while the engine is running however, it may not all be eliminated. If the vehicle is used in extreme cold temperatures (-20C / -4F), ice crystals may form on the relay?s contacts due to rapid heat radiation after the engine is turned off. As a result, these ice crystals can insulate and prevent electricity from flowing and lead to a contact failure. Should this occur, the engine may fail to start immediately. For example: if the engine is started under extreme cold temperatures, shut-off and left to ?soak? for approximately 20 minutes and then restarted, the described relay freezing/no-start condition may occur requiring several attempts to start the engine.

This bulletin announces availability of new rear gate (PRG) stays designed to address customer concerns of other than expected PRG operation.

Read full bulletin

The enhancement involves a change to the viscosity of the lubricant used for maintaining smooth operation of the 2 pressurized rear gate stays. If the PRG is left open for an extended period of time (longer than pproximately 5 minutes), the stays may develop increased operating resistance. This increased resistance is transferred to the PRG mechanism during closing causing an increase to the motor?s electrical current draw. As a result, the ?anti-pinch? feature of the PRG activates, a beep sound occurs and the gate re-opens without input from the customer. These symptoms may continue to occur on subsequent attempts to close the PRG. The anti-pinch feature is designed to operate if the gate comes in contact with an obstruction while closing. When activated, the gate reverses direction and re-opens automatically.

1. We are pleased to announce that based upon retailer input and comments, along with further study and analysis by FHI and SOA, we are increasing the labor time for repairs under this recall by 0.5 hour per vehicle. This is for both 2.5 and 3.6 liter vehicles and will be retroactive to the first repair claims processed. 2. An updated repair procedure document is attached (click here) and will be posted today to STIS. This includes these increased labor times and also provides updated repair procedures including a clarification on the possible need for toe adjustments. We have also reduced the parts retention period for this recall only. Once a claim has been submitted and APPROVED, the parts replaced to complete the repair may be scrapped. 3. We are also sharing that we are enhancing the SSLP daily reimbursement rate. The new reimbursement rate will be $40/day and takes effect retroactively back to May 9, 2016 to align with the announcement of the WTD65 campaign. Please note, although this enhancement is being made retroactively to support our retailer partners during the campaign, this new reimbursement rate will continue once the campaign is completed. 4. Parts Supply ? based upon the latest available supplier production and shipping schedules, we will have delivered at least 26,000 steering columns to retailers by Friday May 27. This will cover more than 100% of sold vehicles plus approximately 80% of the estimated total vehicles needing repair parts.

In fact, 1,355 steering columns were delivered to retailers this Saturday, another 1,712 will be delivered today, and another 3,000 will be delivered tomorrow. Given projected failure rate of 66%, this means we should now be starting to repair units in retailer inventory. However, we realize that this may not be the case for every retailer. We will continue to ship parts at an average of 1,500 per day this week, and we will utilize VIN counts collected over the weekend to prioritize and allocate parts going forward. It is very important that each retailer continue to follow up with customers that have not arranged for inspection or to have their vehicles towed to the retailer. We need every vehicle inspected or repaired, and we need this done as soon as it is practical. It is also important that claims are entered on a timely basis, every day, so we can keep a good accounting of the completed cars.

WILL BE ISSUING A WARRANTY EXTENSION TO ADDRESS CRACKS OR BREAKAGE IN THE DEICER AREA OF THE WINDSHIELD ON 2015 AND EARLY PRODUCTION 2016 LEGACY AND OUTBACK MODELS EQUIPPED WITH THE ALL WEATHER PACKAGE THAT INCLUDED A WINDSHIELD WIPER DEICER. THIS EXTENSION ALSO COVERS CERTAIN EARLY REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELDS WHICH WERE SIMILARLY AFFECTED. DURING THE WINDSHIELD GLASS MANUFACTURING PROCESS, CERTAIN COMPOUNDS USED TO ADHERE THE DEICER TO THE LOWER PORTION OF THE WINDSHIELD POTENTIALLY CREATED A CONDITION WHERE THE GLASS COULD BECOME MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO CRACKING FOLLOWING A MINOR WOUND TO THE GLASS DUE TO SOME OUTSIDE FORCE SUCH AS A STONE IMPACT. WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE DAMAGE TO THE GLASS GENERALLY APPEARS VERY MINOR OR MAY EVEN BE INVISIBLE BUT THE GLASS MAY CRACK AS A RESULT. IF THE CRACK ORIGINATES OR PASSES THROUGH THE DEICER (LOWER) AREA OF THE WINDSHIELD THEN THIS CONDITION MAY BE THE CAUSE.

In some cases, the retaining tab of the connector may become damaged as a result of removal or installation for diagnosis and later and cause DTC C1956 or C1957 to set and the brake warning lamp to illuminate. The retaining tab portion of the connector has been changed to improve its durability and prevent recurrence of the DTC. If there is no prior history of disconnection and the connector lock tab is not damaged, check for another possible cause for these DTCs.

This Bulletin provides information regarding Event Data Recorder (EDR) functionality which has been incorporated into the airbag system. The function of the EDR is best explained using the following statements found in the vehicle Owner?s Manual: ?This vehicle is equipped with an event data recorder (EDR). The main purpose of an EDR is to record, in certain crash or near crash-like situations such as an airbag deployment or hitting a road obstacle, data that will assist in the understanding how a vehicle?s systems performed. The EDR is designed to record data related to vehicle dynamics and safety systems for a short period of time, typically 30 seconds or less. The EDR in this vehicle is designed to record such data as: ? How various systems in your vehicle were operating; ? Whether or not the driver and passenger safety belts were buckled/fastened; ? How far (if at all) the driver was depressing the accelerator and/or brake pedal; ? How fast the vehicle was traveling. This data can help provide a better understanding of the circumstances in which crashes and injuries occur.
