Provisioning is the process by which the DCM receives the subscription request and activates the related DCM features requested as outlined in the specific subscription contract. If provisioning is not successful then the DCM may remain in an inactive state and the requested services may not be activated for the customer. Field investigation has found that this may be a result of three possible conditions.

While this increase is retroactive to the beginning of this recall, the low volume of claims that were entered prior to the change in rates will need to be reentered by the retailer as an appended claim to receive the new calculation. Also, we are experiencing a reimbursement issue for the 3.6L vehicles. We are working to correct the system and will advise when the correction is completed.

VERY IMPORTANT: This procedure applies to vehicles with VINs shared with your retailer as leads through the STARLINK Notifications Dashboard found on Subarunet (see example below) which indicate a possible concern with the activation status of the SUBARU STARLINK Safety and Security Services feature.

A gap may develop at the spot welded seam as a result of repeated thermal shock (heating / cooling) which occurs during normal use. The gap does not create an exhaust leak. THE SOURCE OF THIS CONDITION HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS CONDENSATION FLASH-FREEZING INSIDE THE RELAYS. If the PRG is left open for an extended period of time (longer than pproximately 5 minutes), the stays may develop increased operating resistance. THIS EXTENSION ALSO COVERS CERTAIN EARLY REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELDS WHICH WERE SIMILARLY AFFECTED. DURING THE WINDSHIELD GLASS MANUFACTURING PROCESS, CERTAIN COMPOUNDS USED TO ADHERE THE DEICER TO THE LOWER PORTION OF THE WINDSHIELD POTENTIALLY CREATED A CONDITION WHERE THE GLASS COULD BECOME MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO CRACKING FOLLOWING A MINOR WOUND TO THE GLASS DUE TO SOME OUTSIDE FORCE SUCH AS A STONE IMPACT. WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE DAMAGE TO THE GLASS GENERALLY APPEARS VERY MINOR OR MAY EVEN BE INVISIBLE BUT THE GLASS MAY CRACK AS A RESULT. IF THE CRACK ORIGINATES OR PASSES THROUGH THE DEICER (LOWER) AREA OF THE WINDSHIELD THEN THIS CONDITION MAY BE THE CAUSE.

IN RESPONSE TO THIS INCREASE, SOA IS EXTENDING THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY ON APPLICABLE FACTORY-INSTALLED WINDSHIELDS TO 5 YEARS / UNLIMITED MILES. THIS WARRANTY EXTENSION WILL COVER WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT A MAXIMUM OF ONE TIME WHERE APPLICABLE ON A VEHICLE WITH A VIN PRIOR TO THOSE LISTED IN THE PRODUCTION CHANGE INFORMATION ON PAGE 2 AND MEETING THE GUIDELINES OUTLINED IN THIS BULLETIN. THE PROCEDURE INVOLVES REPLACEMENT OF THE FRONT DOOR GLASS RUN CHANNEL (WEATHERSTRIP), PARTITION GLASS/ WEATHERSTRIP, SASH AND BOTH THE INNER AND OUTER DOOR GLASS WEATHERSTRIPS (SWEEPS). IN ADDITION, TWO PRE-CUT PIECES OF SELF-ADHESIVE EPT FOAM, 1 PIECE OF NON-WOVEN TAPE (WILL BE CUT INTO 3 PIECES) AND A 320MM SECTION OF BUTYL (ADHESIVE RUBBER) SEALING MATERIAL WILL BE ADDED IN SPECIFIC LOCATIONS.

The hood latch mechanism is exposed to foreign materials during normal use which can accumulate and cause the secondary portion to not operate properly. The spring-loaded secondary latch is manually released (after pulling the inside hood release lever to operate the primary latch mechanism) by the operator to open the hood. If faulty, the spring may not have enough force to return the lever back to its original position while the hood is open. Once the hood is closed, the secondary latch is forced into the closed position by design.

DISCONNECTING OR REPLACING THE PRG ROD. (SOA) is extending the New Car Limited Warranty coverage for the electronic connector lock tab for the Electric Parking Brake (EPB) assembly used in the above listed models and model years from (3) years or thirty-six thousand (36,000) miles (whichever comes first) to (15) years / unlimited mileage.

This will prevent the pad from dragging due to corrosion buildup which may result in uneven or premature wear of the replacement brake pads. This additional instruction applies to all models with brake pads using the upper and lower pad clips and has been added to the brake pad installation procedures found in the related Service Manuals.

The change involves the addition of an additional shielding cover to protect the harness from damage caused by road debris.

In some cases, the retaining tab of the connector may become damaged as a result of removal or installation for diagnosis and later and cause DTC C1956 or C1957 to set and the brake warning lamp to illuminate. The retaining tab portion of the connector has been changed to improve its durability and prevent recurrence of the DTC. If there is no prior history of disconnection and the connector lock tab is not damaged, check for another possible cause for these DTCs.

This Bulletin provides information regarding Event Data Recorder (EDR) functionality which has been incorporated into the airbag system. The function of the EDR is best explained using the following statements found in the vehicle Owner?s Manual: ?This vehicle is equipped with an event data recorder (EDR). The main purpose of an EDR is to record, in certain crash or near crash-like situations such as an airbag deployment or hitting a road obstacle, data that will assist in the understanding how a vehicle?s systems performed. The EDR is designed to record data related to vehicle dynamics and safety systems for a short period of time, typically 30 seconds or less. The EDR in this vehicle is designed to record such data as: ? How various systems in your vehicle were operating; ? Whether or not the driver and passenger safety belts were buckled/fastened; ? How far (if at all) the driver was depressing the accelerator and/or brake pedal; ? How fast the vehicle was traveling. This data can help provide a better understanding of the circumstances in which crashes and injuries occur.
