10139526

This bulletin provides a procedure to address a hard starting condition which may occur on vehicles repeatedly driven for short distances.

Read full bulletin

For example: This condition could arise while the vehicle is in inventory for an extended period of time, regularly started, moved around the lot then shut off before the engine comes up to full operating temperature. This type of repeated, short trip driving can cause carbon deposits to accumulate on the spark plugs and over time, the hard start condition to develop. This condition may take 60 or more similar ?cycles? as described above to manifest so, by description alone, it would be very rare for this to happen and quite challenging to duplicate.

response to a limited number of cases related to the ignition coil primary / secondary DTCs listed above. The changes involve a shape change to the harness connector on the coil and to the corresponding engine harness connector. A positive lock mechanism has also been added to the engine harness ignition coil connectors to reduce the chances of becoming disconnected and causing a driveability concern and / or DTC(s).

10117528

This bulletin outlines design changes made to the upper oil pan assembly on FA and FB engines used on the models listed above.

Read full bulletin

There have been isolated cases where the sealer used between the upper oil pan and the crankcase has become displaced resulting in engine oil seepage. Revisions made to the upper oil pan casting: * The mating flange thickness of the casting in the area identified as the cause for the seepage has been increased by 5.5mm. (See images provided in the Parts Information section below.) This thickness increase creates the need for a longer bolt to provide proper tightening and retention. * An additional mounting point has been added to the ribbing inside the casting to increase retention of the steel baffle plate and eliminate vibration.

NOTE: The Airbag systems used on previous and current WRX, STI and Tribeca models are NOT equipped with EDR functionality.

Read full bulletin

This Bulletin provides information regarding Event Data Recorder (EDR) functionality which has been incorporated into the airbag system. The function of the EDR is best explained using the following statements found in the vehicle Owner?s Manual: ?This vehicle is equipped with an event data recorder (EDR). The main purpose of an EDR is to record, in certain crash or near crash-like situations such as an airbag deployment or hitting a road obstacle, data that will assist in the understanding how a vehicle?s systems performed. The EDR is designed to record data related to vehicle dynamics and safety systems for a short period of time, typically 30 seconds or less. The EDR in this vehicle is designed to record such data as: ? How various systems in your vehicle were operating; ? Whether or not the driver and passenger safety belts were buckled/fastened; ? How far (if at all) the driver was depressing the accelerator and/or brake pedal; ? How fast the vehicle was traveling. This data can help provide a better understanding of the circumstances in which crashes and injuries occur.
