ADJUSTER Valve Lash Customer's complaint may include a ticking noise coming from the engine.

Read full bulletin

Technician's observations can refer to spongy or stuck hydraulic lash adjusters. Exhaust lash adjusters found with a "spongy" condition (compressible plunger) leading to the assumption of being defective/malfunctioning. EXHAUST lash adjusters are designed to be COMPRESSIBLE by hand. Intake lash adjusters found with a stiff or stuck condition (non-compressible plunger) leading to the assumption of being defective/malfunctioning. INTAKE lash adjusters are designed to be NON COMPRESSIBLE by hand. Do Not Replace EXHAUST lash adjusters when the following condition is present: should be compressible, but they will exert a reactionary spring force during compression and return to full expansion without a compression force. Do Not Replace INTAKE lash adjusters when the following condition is present: should feel very firm and difficult to compress. Once the correct functioning of the intake and exhaust lash adjusters is validated with the procedure above, refer to the Service Manual "HYDRAULIC LIFTER(S) NOISE DIAGNOSIS" procedure. After the corresponding service procedures from the Service Manual involving the Lash Adjusters have been conducted, refer to the detailed instructions in the Service Manual to diagnose and/or service any other component.

These conditions may be related to worn intake camshaft high lift lobe(s), and intake rocker arm(s) high lift slider. High mileage failure (10,000-60,000 miles). 1. Remove the valve cover(s) per the released service procedures. The use of a stethoscope or DTC specific cylinder misfire codes can help to locate the condition to the left or right bank. 2. Once it has been visually confirmed that there is wear on the high lift intake lobe(s) & rocker arm(s) slider, there is a special service kit for this type of repair which should be used, instead of replacing the complete engine/long block. This kit contains the parts required for the repair (intake cam, rocker arms, sealer and gaskets). Once it is confirmed that the repair will be done using the camshaft/Rocker arms kit, it is also important to confirm that the vehicle being repaired has the latest calibration/software update for oil pump operation mode (high pressure mode) during engine start up. All 3.6L/62TE equipped vehicles. If the vehicle you are repairing has a crack in the flex plate or failed pump bushing inspect and confirm that both (2) dowel pins are present in the engine block, which align the transmission center line to the crank shaft centerline and visually inspect the dowel alignment holes in the transmission case. If the holes are damaged or elongated the transmission should be replaced to prevent further damage to the transmission/flexplate or pump bushing due to the inability to properly align the engine to the transmission during the repair. 3. All 62TE equipped vehicles. If pump bushing is scored or damaged and the dowel pin alignment holes are ok, replace the pump assembly as opposed to complete transmission. 4. All 62TE equipped vehicles. If vehicle is jerking/slipping with MIL code(s) P0740 or P2764, check TCC Solenoid operation. If TCC Solenoid is ok, the codes are indicative of a torque converter failure. Replace the torque converter.

SEAL, Input If looking to replace stubshaft due to ATX fluid leaking, do not replace PTU seals.

Read full bulletin

None of the seals from the PTU side will need to be replaced whenever the ATX stubshaftis replaced, even though V-seal (68408748A$) is in direct contact with the stubshaft,it will not avoid grease/oil leakage from transmission side. PTU V-seals are intended to act as a dust cover for stubshaft-PTU input shaft spline interface. PTU Input shaft seal (68408749A$) is intended to hold PTU oil and debris ingress; it should be replaced only if the fluid leakage is confirmed to be PTU oil and not ATX trans. fluid.

on when the tailgate is closed, first try adjustingthe tailgate strikers to minimize the force required to close. The striker must be centered up/down in the latch opening. You have to balance tailgate flushness and closing effort by moving the strikers fore or aft. Striker position also affects closing effort. In most cases moving the right side striker rearward or the left side forward fixes the issue and maintains flushness within tolerance. have a leak that appears to be at the pan the use of proper leak detection is recommended. The fluid in the 8 speeds can be detected with a black light and there are aftermarket spray on leak detection materials to help ensure that the leak is properly diagnosed and not from another location such as cooler lines, heater tubes, or case porosity. Please note that the transmission pan gasket is available for many of the 8 speed applications FCA offers. Please review the available quick connect and transfer tube parts, as replacement of the TMU may not be required. If a TOC line connection is found to be the source, the quick connect may need replacement. If the leak source is coming from the connection of the TMU to the transmission, the transfer tube may need replacement. When parts are returned to the QEC the retaining clips (snap ring) for the quick disconnect fittings are missing. (This leaves a question as to whether the clips were missing from the assembly plant, or the technician removed them in order to make line removal easier.) Please return the clips with the transmission heater and note if they were not there to begin with. For any questions regarding transmission heater, contact FCA Redacted Content. The steering gear mounting washers between the gear and frame were eliminated, and threads internal to the EPS mounts were repositioned which may cause the old bolt (or new bolts manufactured prior to 7/31/2021) to bottom out prior to achieving torque which can cause an NVH issue. For a new EPS gear (with mounting washers eliminated) please use 06510880AA bolts manufactured after 7/31/21).
