Polestar investigations have identified that vehicles are unable to receive Over-The-Air (OTA) updates due to old or conflicting software. If SWDL fails, the VGM may end up in an unresponsive state. To identify if this has happened, the most indicative symptom is that the car does not show up in VIDA. An acceleration constraint from a standstill when the driver's seatbelt is unbuckled has been implemented and should be regarded as expected behavior. The models listed in this journal are the first to receive this software, but it will be rolled out progressively throughout the coming months to all BEV vehicles.

There have been cases where the IEM has been replaced incorrectly for this DTC, and instead, a faulty one-way valve in the coolant system was the root cause. To determine if this coolant valve is faulty, the IEM transistor temperature parameters for phases U, V, and W can be monitored and plotted with VIDA.
