Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Emission Service Campaign to replace the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) on three (3) 2020 Nissan Kicks vehicle and one (1) 2020 Versa vehicles identified in Service Comm. Due to a manufacturing issue that has since been corrected, Nissan has determined that the installed CVT in the subject vehicles may not meet specification. The essential tool (part number # J-52982, Figure 1) required to remove the nut staking, is called out as a Cape Chisel in the Electronic Service Manual (ESM), and must be used to prevent thread damage to the axle (see Figure 2 on page 2). The Cape Chisel arrived at dealers in December of 2020. Damaged threads, due to improper removal of the stake placed in the nut, will not be covered by warranty. Due to a supplier concern that has since been resolved, the installed front turn signal bulbs may have durability issues that could cause them to not perform to specification. Nissan announced the following quality action in October 2019. Service Comm will de-activate PM931 and PC713 on any un-remedied VINs on February 28, 2020. Nissan is still requesting that dealers apply the replacement label on any affected vehicles prior to sale. Please use the VIN list supplied with this announcement to identify applicable vehicles.
