variable transmissions (CVTs), and to address customer concerns including those expressed by customers in the class actions, Nissan will extend the warranty coverage on the CVT. The warranty extension includes the CVT assembly and internal CVT components, gaskets, and seals, CVT control valve body, torque converter, cooler kit (if applicable) and reprogramming of the Transmission Control Module (TCM), on the vehicles listed in this announcement. The warranty is being extended from its original duration of 60 months/60,000 miles to 84 months/84,000 miles (whichever occurs first). Coverage of other vehicle components remains unchanged, and all other terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions of Nissans New Vehicle Limited Warranty continue to apply. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. If an owner contacts a dealer with a CVT concern in an owned or leased vehicle, verify warranty coverage for the specific VIN and then inform the customer of any diagnostic charges. NOTE: Some owners may have opted out of the warranty extension by excluding themselves from the class action settlement, thus it is important to check the VIN for each vehicle to verify coverage. 2. Use the appropriate Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) and/or Electronic Service Manual (ESM) to diagnose the root cause of the customer concern and identify the correct repair to resolve the customer concerns. NOTE: Dealers will need to follow the warranty process and obtain pre-approval from the Powertrain Call Center (800-973-9992, option 2) for any vehicles requiring CVT replacements when the replacement cost exceeds a Dealers Claims Administration/Authorization Limits (DCAL). Control valves and CVT belt and pulley kits do not require pre-authorization for repairs made under warranty.

a class action lawsuit gave final approval to a proposed settlement under which the CVT warranty will be extended for the following vehicles: 2014-2018 Rogue 2015-2018 Pathfinder *Not including Rogue Hybrid or Pathfinder Hybrid vehicles The approved settlement and the warranty extension are expected to become effective by June 1, 2022. Additional communication will be distributed prior to the warranty extension going into effect. To be clear, for the time being there is no warranty extension, and you should proceed with CVT-related claims as outlined below in bullet point three (3) under What Dealers Should Do. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. No action is necessary at this time. Nissan will provide additional instructions prior to the effective date of the extended warranty, which is expected to be June 1, 2022. 2. If a customer contacts the dealer with a CVT concern in an owned or leased vehicle, dealers should use the appropriate Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) to diagnose the root cause of the customer concern and identify the correct repair to resolve the customer concerns. NOTE: Dealers will need to follow the warranty process and obtain pre-approval from the Powertrain Call Center (800-973-9992 Option 2) for any vehicles requiring CVT assemblies to be replaced. Valve bodies and CVT belt and pulley kits do not require pre-authorization. 3. If the vehicle is no longer covered by a powertrain or parts warranty, provide owners a repair estimate for test drive, diagnosis, and repair after consulting the goodwill guidelines available in the Assurance Product Resources Manual (APRM) or WBP/18-006.

These procedures are used when a complete CVT is replaced, or a CVT control valve (valve body) is replaced, or a Transmission Control Module (TCM) is replaced. See this bulletin for further detail.

This debris can contaminate the newly serviced transmission, control valve or torque converter. In severe cases this debris can block or restrict flow and may cause damage to the newly serviced CVT. SERVICE INFORMATION When a CVT, control valve or torque converter replacement is necessary for one of the applied vehicles, the CVT transmission fluid coolers (radiator based fluid cooler and external auxiliary cooler if present) must be flushed. Please see this bulletin for further details.

ACTION 1. Confirm that the battery voltage is 11 volts, or more, with the ignition ON (engine OFF, not running). 2. Erase DTC 3. Perform DTC confirmation steps in the Service Procedure. 4. Confirm 1st trip DTC P0603 is not stored. NOTE: P0603 is often the result of low battery voltage, discharged battery or battery terminal disconnections. Please see this bulletin for furtner details.

Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Emissions Service Campaign on approximately 104,221 specific Nissan vehicles identified in Service Comm and currently registered to owners in the state of California to reprogram the Engine Control Module (ECM) in the event that a permanent diagnostic trouble code (P-DTC) for P0448, P0101, P2008, or P0087 is recorded in the ECM. Due to calibration errors on the affected vehicles, the ECM may improperly store a permanent diagnostic trouble code (P-DTC) even though the emissions on-board diagnostic system is functioning properly. As of July 1, 2019 the State of California has implemented a revised Inspection Maintenance (I/M) or Smog Check test program. Without the software update, the subject vehicles may not pass this Smog Check test in those areas of California where such testing is required under state law. This incident has no effect on the safety, performance, drivability, or fuel consumption of the applicable vehicles. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. Verify if vehicles are affected by this Voluntary Emissions Service Campaign using Service Comm or DBS National Service History Open Campaigns I.D. The mount has also been designed with built-in free play that is normal. Under normal driving conditions: - A thunk noise may be heard during the first few accelerations of the day, And - Does not occur again, or at any other time. DO NOT REPLACE THE MOUNT: - If it has free play or a ?single event? thunk sound during the first few accelerations of the day. This is considered a normal characteristic of this type of engine mount. - Allowable free play (vertical movement) is 5 mm. - If a shift shock condition is present when shifting from Park into gear or between any combination of gears. This condition is due to transmission line pressure and not movement of the mount. - If a whistle type noise is heard. This is caused by a disconnected vacuum line. NOTE: Refer to the appropriate section of the Electronic Service Manual (ESM) related to transaxles for further diagnostic information on shift shock. Warranty claims for front engine mount replacement due to a whistle noise or a mount that has 5 mm or less free play will be denied.

found to be leaking grease, AND There is no abnormal noise or obvious CV Joint risk due to water intrusion and/or complete grease loss, check for REPAIR KIT-DUST BOOT (CV Joint Boot Kit) availability. If there is a REPAIR KIT-DUST BOOT (CV Joint Boot Kit) available for the vehicle being repaired, do NOT replace the axle. Install a new boot kit following the procedure in the ESM. o Refer to the ESM: TRANSMISSION & DRIVELINE > FRONT AXLE > REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION > FRONT DRIVE SHAFT BOOT o If the complete axle (drive shaft) is replaced when only a new boot is required, the over-repair may be charged back to the dealer. The information, illustrations, and flow chart in this bulletin are provided to help you in determining if an incident for water/condensation in the headlamps is normal or not. Nissan?s new vehicle limited warranty does not cover physically damaged (cracked or broken) headlamps. All current headlamp assemblies are vented to the atmosphere (not sealed). - This is necessary to allow for expansion and contraction of air from temperature "variations" (warmer or colder) without damage to the headlamp. - Moisture in the air sometimes "travels" into and out of the headlamp assembly through these vents. - Certain environmental conditions may cause moisture to condense. - The fogging/cloudiness should disappear over time when the headlamp is in a dry environment. NOTE: In some cases, electrically disconnecting the Electric Controlled Coupling may not eliminate the vibration as described above. In these cases, further confirm the incident by removing the rear propeller shaft and retest. If the vibration does not occur with the rear propeller shaft removed, the incident is confirmed. IMPORTANT: Tire size, brand or tread pattern mismatches can cause similar symptoms. To avoid tire related mismatch vibration, it is recommended that when tires need to be replaced, all tires are replaced at the same time with tires of the proper size, same brand and pattern.
