Therefore, Nissan is extending the emission warranty coverage on the model year 2019-2020 Altima Active Grille Shutter to 15 Years or 150,000 miles, whichever occurs first. All other warranty terms, limitations, and conditions remain unchanged. On affected vehicles, over time, the shaft connecting the grille shutter motor and shutter louvers may become twisted and/or cracked resulting in the shutter remaining in the closed position and illumination of the malfunction indicator light (MIL). This issue will have no effect on vehicle safety or drivability, but the vehicle may experience reduced fuel efficiency. During the limited emission warranty extension period, owners are eligible for free replacement of the Active Grille Shutter if a MIL-On condition occurs with DTC P059F and/or P159F that requires replacement of the grille shutter assembly. Owners of eligible vehicles will receive notification of this limited emission warranty extension during December 2023. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. Verify if vehicles are eligible for this Warranty Extension using the warranty extension page of Service Comm. 2. If a customer contacts the dealer with an Active Grille Shutter concern in an owned or leased vehicle, dealers should use the ESM to diagnose the root cause of the customer concern and identify the correct repair to resolve the customer concerns. MODULE SERVICE INFORMATION If the customer states the rear automatic braking (RAB) warning light was illuminated and Malfunction See Owners Manual appears in the message center (Figure 1), AND / OR DTC C1B56-04 and/or C1B56-97 are stored in the ICC/ADAS2 Control Module. Refer to the information on page 2 to determine next steps.

ACTION Inspect the horn pad for a pinched ground wire. If a pinched ground wire is found, replace the high and low horns.

(PRESS SEN CIRCUIT) and/or C1116 (STOP LAMP SW) may be stored if the Stop Lamp Switch and/or the Brake Pedal Position Switch are out of adjustment. Before replacing any components for DTCs C1142 (PRESS SEN CIRCUIT) and/or C1116 (STOP LAMP SW), stored as past or current, confirm that the Stop Lamp Switch and the Brake Pedal Position Switch are properly adjusted. If either the Stop Lamp Switch and/or the Brake Pedal Position Switch are found to be out of adjustment, adjust them as per the ESM, and then clear the DTCs and perform DTC confirmation. found to be leaking grease, AND There is no abnormal noise or obvious CV Joint risk due to water intrusion and/or complete grease loss, check for REPAIR KIT-DUST BOOT (CV Joint Boot Kit) availability. If there is a REPAIR KIT-DUST BOOT (CV Joint Boot Kit) available for the vehicle being repaired, do NOT replace the axle. Install a new boot kit following the procedure in the ESM. o Refer to the ESM: TRANSMISSION & DRIVELINE > FRONT AXLE > REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION > FRONT DRIVE SHAFT BOOT o If the complete axle (drive shaft) is replaced when only a new boot is required, the over-repair may be charged back to the dealer. If there is NOT a REPAIR KIT-DUST BOOT (CV Joint Boot Kit) available for the vehicle being repaired, refer to the ESM for further diagnostic information. IMPORTANT: When servicing vehicles with staked axle nuts, refer to NTB21-013 to prevent Drive Shaft thread damage.

front axle nut removed, for any reason, the staking of the nut into the axle keyway must first be removed. The essential tool (part number # J-52982, Figure 1) required to remove the nut staking, is called out as a Cape Chisel in the Electronic Service Manual (ESM), and must be used to prevent thread damage to the axle (see Figure 2 on page 2). The Cape Chisel arrived at dealers in December of 2020. Damaged threads, due to improper removal of the stake placed in the nut, will not be covered by warranty. For information on using the Cape Chisel, refer to the Electronic Service Manual (ESM): Section TRANSMISSION & DRIVELINE > FRONT AXLE > REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION > FRONT DRIVE SHAFT > LH/RH.
