refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-00 for oil leak inspection and testing methods. Ford has evaluated turbochargers replaced for oil leak symptoms and although oil may collect on the external surface of a turbocharger, it is extremely rare for a turbocharger assembly to be the root cause of the oil leak. Careful inspection of the turbocharger oil feed and drain tubes should be performed along with the recommended WSM procedures as needed. Warranty claims for turbocharger replacement going forward will be assessed.

It is also not recommended to order a replacement module using a vehicle identification number (VIN) from a different vehicle. Most modules on these affected vehicles are VIN/vehicle specific and hardware variations between modules do exist. Swapping a module from a vehicle or ordering a module using a different vehicle/VIN can cause ineffective repairs and additional vehicle down time. Make sure all appropriate Workshop Manual (WSM) procedures are followed when diagnosing the condition prior to all module replacements and only order modules using the correct VIN.

If a third remote start request is received, a Vehicle Failed To Start message will be displayed quickly in the mobile app. Once the vehicle is driven, the remote start counter is reset and will allow remote start commands to be sent from the mobile app. If the remote start system is not functioning using the key fob, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 303-06 for further diagnosis.

This is caused by hydrofluoric acid which is used in some car wash solutions as a cleaning agent. Hydrofluoric acid can attack the glass and cause visual distortion and/or discoloration on the outer surface which cannot be removed by further cleaning. If this type of distortion is found, inspect the area of the glass that is covered by the cowl and/or molding. The portion of glass that is covered by the cowl or molding will not be affected by the acid. Hydrofluoric acid damage is not a defect in material or workmanship and is not a warrantable condition.

Use Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 100-04 and 501-00 for diagnosis of whistle and/or wind noise. If the exterior mirror(s) are identified as the source of the noise verify the distance between the exterior mirror base and the mirror cover before attempting other repairs. A minimum measurement of 1mm (0.0393 in) should be present between the exterior mirror base and the mirror cover. Refer to WSM, Section 501-09 for information on measuring and adjusting the distance between the exterior mirror base and mirror cover. If a minimum measurement of 1mm (0.0393 in) is not maintained between the exterior mirror base and the mirror cover when the exterior mirror(s) are serviced it may create a whistle and/or wind noise concern.

Prior to performing any road force balancing procedures or related diagnosis, make sure the vehicle tire pressure is correct and is driven a minimum of 24 Km (15 miles) to eliminate any possible flat spotting conditions and potential misdiagnosis. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 204-04A for further information. In addition, it is recommended that diagnosis of tire/wheel vibration should not be performed on tires with less than 320 Km (200 miles). Some initial tire/wheel vibration issues (such as flat spotting) may correct themselves after the tires have been in service for 320 Km (200 miles). Setting tire pressure to the correct placard pressure is contained within pre-delivery inspection.

This may be due to a insufficient/low refrigerant charge. If a vehicle displays a lack of cooling performance during PDI, inspect for a leak. Refer to the diagnostics in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 412-00 for A/C leak detection. Many times when the system is only evacuated and refilled to the proper level at PDI the customer will return for a lack of cooling performance concern. A refrigerant leak will usually be identified as the root cause.
