Tool (SST) USB flash drive to update the map, points of interest, and system software. The SST is used with applicable vehicles to deliver the update, however, the process for generating license keys differs from previous generations. Before attempting to perform a map update, the expiration date of the dynamic subscription (stored in the head unit), must be checked. If the expiration date has not passed, a license key may be generated without the purchase of an activation card number (ACN). Updating the map without the use of an ACN is considered an Embedded Navigation Update (refer to pg. 10) and performing this update does not extend the subscription to dynamic map services. If the subscription period has expired, or is expiring within the next 90 days, it should be recommended to the customer to purchase an ACN. Utilizing an ACN, will initiate the Dynamic Navigation Update (refer to pg. 4). This Dynamic Navigation Update will perform the embedded navigation update and provide dynamic map services for a period of two years from the date that the Dynamic Navigation Update is performed. ACNs are provided in a pamphlet available through the normal parts ordering system

This is causing the headlights to be misaligned when auto adjusting based on the vehicle height position and in some cases, will set a DTC. 2018 model year LS and LC 2wd models share the same front suspension layout leaving the bracket vulnerable to damage if towed incorrectly. Vehicles found shipped by third party tow companies using flatbed trucks are not securing vehicles per the recommendations found in the Owner's Manual. Some methods seen include securing the vehicle with metal hooks around the front lower control arms as a mount point. The height adjustment sensor bracket is fixed to the lower control arm and using this method risks bending the bracket if the strap or chain contacts this bracket under load.

During previous air conditioning service, leakage prevention agent (A/C stop leak) may have been added to the A/C system.

Adding stop leak products to the A/C system is not a recommended or approved Lexus repair process. During A/C service, moisture enters the A/C system, and can react with the previously added A/C stop leak, forming a gelatinous substance. The gel substance that forms can cause the A/C compressor to bind and or seize.

Special Service Tools: Injector Seal Tool Sets.

Read full bulletin

In the event that injector seal repair is required on vehicles equipped with a direct injection fuel system, a Special Service Tool Set is required to properly install the seal onto the injector. As new vehicle configurations have been released, several injector seal tool sets have been distributed to accommodate these new vehicles. There are a total of three injector seal tool sets for Lexus models, located in the appropriate SST cabinets. Each kit contains multiple pieces as shown in the diagram below. The individual pieces must remain together to ensure these tools are used correctly. Refer to the repair manual for the tool information to ensure the correct tool is used for the desired application.

Some models are equipped with front and rear wheels of different offsets or width.

Read full bulletin

Wheel offset, defined as the distance between the wheel?s centerline and the wheel-to-rotor mounting surface, affects the clearance between the back of the wheel and surrounding brake components (Figure 1). Installation of a wheel with an offset or width different than the correct specification, such as installing the rear wheel on the front, can cause damage to brake components due to interference between the wheel and adjacent parts. The wheel could contact the brake caliper thereby introducing stress into the caliper, brake rotor, and potentially other components. In some cases, this stress could contribute to cracking or separation of the brake rotor.

Flash reprogramming allows the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) software to be updated without replacing the ECU. Flash calibration updates for specific vehicle models/ECUs are released as field-fix procedures described in individual Service Bulletins. This bulletin details the Techstream ECU flash reprogramming process and outlines the use of TIS and the Calibration Update Wizard (CUW). Flash calibration updates can only be applied to the vehicle/ECU combination for which they are intended. ECUs have internal security that will not allow them to be programmed with another ECU?s information. 500, LC 500h, LS 500, and LS 500h 2WD vehicles. Incorrect towing methods may cause the vehicle to exhibit a bent front height adjustment sensor bracket. This condition may cause headlight misalignment when auto adjusting based on the vehicle height position, and in some cases, will set a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). NOTICE ? If the vehicle is NOT towed correctly, the front height adjustment sensor bracket may be vulnerable to damage due to the layout of the front suspension. ? When shipping a vehicle, some third-party towing companies that use flatbed trucks do NOT follow the recommendations found in the Owner?s Manual to secure the vehicle. For example, some towing companies may secure the vehicle with metal hooks around the front lower control arms as a mount point. The front height adjustment sensor bracket is fixed to the lower control arm, and using this method risks bending the bracket if the strap or chain contacts this bracket under load. Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) recommends that dealers ensure towing companies are aware of proper hook and tie-down points and the risks if not performed properly. Customers should be educated in situations when non-dealer roadside assistance is used. If the vehicle has a damaged front height adjustment sensor bracket after being towed by a third-party towing company, please advise the dealer service department immediately, as the towing company may be responsible for damages.

ST004-01, SU001-08, and L-SB-0174-08. The aforementioned bulletins are obsolete, and any printed versions should be discarded. Be sure to review the entire content of this service bulletin before proceeding. This Service Bulletin provides best practice procedures for vehicle pulling complaint, diagnosis, and repair for 2002 ? 2021 model year Lexus vehicles. This information supplements Repair Manual procedures when the symptoms are: ?Vehicle Pulling: The vehicle moves to the right or left when the driver holds the steering wheel while driving straight ahead without exerting steering effort. ?Steering Wheel Off Center: The vehicle travels straight, but the steering wheel is not pointed straight ahead. The vehicle is not pulling. Before repairing a vehicle pulling to one side, it is necessary to clearly identify the cause of the pulling condition. Frequently, pulling to one side is diagnosed as a wheel alignment concern. However, the actual cause may be related to the lateral force generated by the tires, vehicle damage, road crown or worn components. Performing a wheel alignment when tire force is the cause could result in the wheel alignment being set at a value outside of specifications. This could then cause other problems such as uneven tire wear, etc. A customer may notice a pull to the left when in the left lanes of travel and notice a pull to the right or no pull when traveling in the right lanes of travel on the very same section of roadway. This road crown effect is environmental and cannot be corrected with suspension adjustments or any other wheel or tire modification discussed in this bulletin.
