TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: BMS DTC JUDGEMENT LOGIC IMPROVEMENT - This bulletin has been revised to include additional information.

Read full bulletin

New/revised sections of this bulletin are indicated by a black bar in the margin area. This bulletin provides the procedure to update the software logic of the Battery Management System (BMS) on some 2019-2022MY Niro EV (DE EV) vehicles produced from December 5, 2018 through April 12, 2022. The BMS ECU monitors voltage deviation between battery cells, poor insulation, abnormal cell voltage changes after charging, abnormal current change during charging, over-voltage, temperature deviation or average cell deviation during driving is detected. These conditions can cause the BMU to set DTC P1AA600. The affected vehicles may exhibit a reduction in power and speed (limp home mode) and a MIL 'ON' with DTC P1AA600 stored. This BMS DTC logic improvement will expand DTC P1AA600 into multiple DTCs to aid in proper diagnosis, which reduces the required time and steps outlined in the 'DTC Inspection' on KGIS to determine the fault using 'freeze frame' data.

PITSTOP: TECHNICAL OPERATIONS: EXTERNAL DAMAGE TO ULTRASONIC SENSOR: This Pitstop provides information related to...

Read full bulletin

Parking Distance Warning (PDW) alerts and repairs involving ultrasonic sensors. The PDW system alerts the driver while parking, by calculating distance based on the difference in signal transmission and reception times between the vehicle (ultrasonic sensor) and an object. The membrane film of the ultrasonic sensor is used for object detention and can be damaged by stone chips or foreign substances while driving. Damage to the cover of the ultrasonic sensor can also lead to damage to the internal circuit. As a result of this external damage, the PDW system may not receive the proper signal from the ultrasonic sensor. In some cases, the system may cause a false alarm, no alert, or phantom warnings by a Warning Lamp to be displayed on the cluster. The ultrasonic sensor membrane film should be always inspected for external damage and if any part replacement should be treated as a general repair, not as a warranty claim repair for this concern. (Please note that this Pitstop only applies to models/trims that are equipped with the ultrasonic sensors.)

This bulletin has been revised to include additional information. New/revised sections of this bulletin are indicated by a black bar in the margin area. This bulletin provides the procedure to inspect the Integrated Electronic Booster (IEB) on certain 2019-2022MY Niro EV (DE EV) vehicles produced from December 5, 2018 through April 12, 2022, that were originally sold or are currently registered in one of the 28 states where heavy amounts of road salt are used. Over time, saltwater inflow into the Integrated IEB at the IEB fastening bolt hole may cause corrosion and lead to an inoperable IEB motor. Should this occur, the vehicle may experience illumination of the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) warning lights, and/or a firmer brake pedal feel. The brakes remain operational. Kia is conducting this service campaign to improve corrosion resistance of the IEB assembly.

PITSTOP: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REPLACEMENT AND MILEAGE SETTING WITH KDS - This bulletin has been revised to include additional information.

Read full bulletin

New/revised sections of this bulletin are indicated by a black bar in the margin area. This pitstop provides the KDS service procedure for mileage setting on the models listed below with newly replaced instrument clusters. Certain models allow for mileage setting with the KDS, which prevents the need to send out the instrument cluster to a 3rd party for mileage adjustment (refer to PS264). After a new cluster is installed, cluster (variant) coding may also need to be conducted using the KDS. Make sure the KDS software is also updated to the latest version. Mileage setting should be performed by using the KDS only, as described in this bulletin.
