TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: INFORMATION FOR HEADLAMP CONDENSATION AND MOISTURE - This bulletin has been revised to include additional information.

Read full bulletin

New/revised sections of this bulletin are indicated by a black bar in the margin area. This bulletin provides information relating to some Kia models that may exhibit fogging, condensation, and/or moisture inside a headlamp assembly. Generally, a fogging condition is considered normal and can be eliminated by turning on the headlamps with the engine running for up to 30 minutes or during normal driving conditions. Headlamp assembly replacement WILL NOT be necessary in most cases.

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: 8AT (A8LR1-SBW) SOLENOID VALVE REPLACEMENT AND TCU LOGIC IMPROVEMENT - This bulletin...

Read full bulletin

provides the procedure to replace two (2) solenoid valves (35R and 4&OD) and improve the gear shift logic of the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) on some 2015-2016MY K900 (KH) vehicles, equipped with Tau 5.0L engine and 8-speed automatic transmission w/Shift-By-Wire (A8LR1-SBW), which may exhibit symptoms of abnormal shift shock during an upshift (2nd-->3rd, 3rd-->4th, 4th-->5th). This condition occurs on vehicles with mileage over 12,000 miles and may be due to possible premature wear of the solenoid valve. To correct this concern, replace the 35R and 4&O/D solenoid valves with added H ventilation port, perform TCU relearn, and, if applicable, apply the improved logic to the Transmission system using the KDS ECU Upgrade function as described in this bulletin.

SPECIAL SERVICE INFORMATION & SPECIFICATIONS FOR GDI HIGH PRESSURE FUEL SYSTEM - This bulletin has been revised to include additional information.

Read full bulletin

This bulletin provides information relating to all Kia vehicles equipped with Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engines. In these engines highly pressurized gasoline is injected via a common fuel rail and injectors that deliver fuel directly into the combustion chamber of each cylinder. In comparison, in a conventional Multi-Point Fuel Injection (MPI) engine, the gasoline is injected into the intake port of each cylinder at a relatively low pressure. Due to high fuel pressure in a GDI system, servicing the GDI system requires special attention and handling procedures. This bulletin provides special service information and specifications for the GDI fuel system components.

SHARDS HAVE CONTAMINATED THE SYSTEM, THE DESICCANT OR THE ENTIRE A/C RECEIVER/DRYER ASSEMBLY MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT MAY BE IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE ALL METAL CONTAMINANTS FROM THE RECEIVER/DRYER DURING THE A/C FLUSHING PROCEDURE. REFER TO THE INCLUDED TABLE FOR DETAILED INFORMATION ON COMPONENT REPLACEMENT BY MODEL. IF YOU SUSPECT A PLUGGED EXPANSION VALVE, THE INLET SCREENS CAN BE CLEANED. IF THE VALVE IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH AN INLET SCREEN AND IS RESTRICTED, THE EXPANSION VALVE MAY ALSO NEED TO BE REPLACED.

Use of the headlights in AUTO mode over time may result in increased electrical resistance of the contact points, which in turn may affect the operation of the Electronic Control Unit located inside the Multi-Function Switch. If this occurs, the headlights may flicker and/or intermittently turn off while driving. To correct this condition, follow the procedure outlined in this bulletin. Before conducting the procedure, verify the vehicle is included in the list of affected VINs.

PITSTOP: TECHNICAL OPERATIONS: EXTERNAL DAMAGE TO ULTRASONIC SENSOR: This Pitstop provides information related to...

Read full bulletin

Parking Distance Warning (PDW) alerts and repairs involving ultrasonic sensors. The PDW system alerts the driver while parking, by calculating distance based on the difference in signal transmission and reception times between the vehicle (ultrasonic sensor) and an object. The membrane film of the ultrasonic sensor is used for object detention and can be damaged by stone chips or foreign substances while driving. Damage to the cover of the ultrasonic sensor can also lead to damage to the internal circuit. As a result of this external damage, the PDW system may not receive the proper signal from the ultrasonic sensor. In some cases, the system may cause a false alarm, no alert, or phantom warnings by a Warning Lamp to be displayed on the cluster. The ultrasonic sensor membrane film should be always inspected for external damage and if any part replacement should be treated as a general repair, not as a warranty claim repair for this concern. (Please note that this Pitstop only applies to models/trims that are equipped with the ultrasonic sensors.)
