GM does not endorse any repairs that involve welding, bending, straightening o re-machining. Only cosmetic refinishing of the wheel's coatings, using recommended procedures, is allowed. Evaluating Damage In evaluating damage, it is the GM Dealer's responsibility to inspect the wheel for corrosion, scrapes, gouges, etc. The Dealer must insure that such damage is not deeper than what can be sanded or polished off. The wheel must be inspected for cracks. If cracks are found, discard the wheel. Any wheels with bent rim flanges must not be repaired or refinished. Wheels that have been refinished by an outside company must be returned to the same vehicle. The Dealer must record the wheel ID stamp or the cast date on the wheel in order to assure this requirement. Refer to Refinisher's Responsibility Outside Company later in this bulletin.

Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Sierra, and GMC Yukon vehicles may have a condition where customers may experience increased brake pedal effort, hard brake pedal, and/or potentially increased stopping distance. The condition is more prevalent at low speed when softly applying the brakes. The engine mounted mechanical vacuum pump output may decrease over time decreasing the amount of vacuum/power brake assist. Failure to follow recommended oil change intervals could contribute to this condition. The Driver?s Information Center, (DIC) ?Service brake assist? alert will activate 2-5 minutes after the vacuum level drops, and a Diagnostic Trouble Code, (DTC) will also be set. Even where this condition occurs, the hydraulic brake system remains functional but may require additional pedal force. Dealers are to replace the vacuum pump and vacuum pump belt. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.

In some circumstances, some 2014-2017 model year Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Sierra, and GMC Yukon vehicles may have a condition where customers may experience increased brake pedal effort, hard brake pedal, and/or potentially increased stopping distance. The condition is more prevalent at low speed when softly applying the brakes. The engine mounted mechanical vacuum pump output may decrease over time decreasing the amount of vacuum/power brake assist. Failure to follow recommended oil change intervals could contribute to this condition. The Driver?s Information Center, (DIC) ?Service brake assist? alert will activate 2-5 minutes after the vacuum level drops, and a Diagnostic Trouble Code, (DTC) will also be set. Even where this condition occurs, the hydraulic brake system remains functional but may require additional pedal force. Please understand that even if the vehicle exhibits this condition, it meets all federal motor vehicle safety standards for brake performance. Dealers are to replace the vacuum pump and vacuum pump belt. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.

General Motors has decided to conduct a Voluntary Emission Recall on certain vehicles equipped with a 6.6L diesel (LML) engine and dual fuel tanks (N2N). Under certain driving conditions, fuel may not be transferred from the rear fuel tank to the front fuel tank at a sufficient rate. If this occurs, the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P2636 will set, the malfunction indicator lamp will illuminate, the fuel gauge will display empty, and the transfer pump will be disabled until serviced. If the vehicle continues to be driven, it will run out of fuel in the front tank and stall. Dealers are to replace fuel line connections to allow the rear tank, in addition to the front tank, to directly supply fuel to the engine. The engine control module (ECM) will also be reprogrammed with calibrations necessary to support this new connection.

Over time, this condition could generate heat that could melt the areas surrounding the circuit. In rare instances, this heat could cause a non-propagating fire, increasing the risk of property damage or injury. Dealers will replace the buss bar covers and contact cover. If the rear window or sliding glass assembly appears damaged due to an occurrence of high electrical resistance on the rear defroster circuit, they should also be replaced.

These vehicles may have been built with grease applied to the trailing arm to knuckle attachment bolts. Grease added under the shoulder of the bolts could result in the bolts slipping over time. If the bolts loosen there would be an increasing amount of noise from the rear suspension. Left unaddressed, the upper bolts could potentially back out completely. This would result in a noticeable swaying of the vehicles? rear end from road inputs while driving, and increased noise. The vehicle handling is not affected. Dealers are to replace the four rear control arm to knuckle bolts. It will also be necessary to clean any grease from the bolt mounting surfaces.
