This concern could be caused by water leaking or snow ingestion into the Heater-Vent-Air Conditioning case. Technician is to perform normal water testing diagnostics while the Heater-Vent-Air Conditioning is running, looking for water leaking past the plenum cover. If water is leaking past the cover remove the cover and install a 12x12 snow resistant screen to the fresh air intake. Reseal and install the plenum cover cap using Kent air dry sealer or equivalent.

2014-2015 model year Chevrolet Cruze vehicles that are equipped with a diesel engine (RPO LML/LGH/LUZ), a malfunction-indicator light (MIL) may illuminate due to an offset in the temperature sensor in the diesel-emission-reduction fluid (DEF) tank reservoir or increased DEF tank-heater resistance. Special Coverage Adjustment This special coverage covers the condition described above for a period of 10 years or 120,000 miles (193,000 km), whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership. For vehicles covered by Vehicle Service Contracts, all eligible claims with repair orders on or after November 17, 2016, are covered by this special coverage and must be submitted using the labor operation codes provided with this bulletin. Claims with repair orders prior to November 17, 2016, must be submitted to the Service Contract provider. Correction Dealers are to replace the DEF tank reservoir. Certain Vehicles may have a condition where customers may experience increased brake pedal effort, hardbrake pedal, and/or potentially increased stopping distance. The condition is more prevalent at low speed when softly applyingthe brakes. The engine mounted mechanical vacuum pump outputmay decrease over time decreasing the amount of vacuum/power brake assist. Failure to follow recommended oil change intervalscould contribute to this condition. The Driver?s Information Center, (DIC) ?Service brake assist? alert will activate 2-5minutes after the vacuum level drops, and a Diagnostic Trouble Code, (DTC) will also be set. Even where this condition occurs,the hydraulic brake system remains functional but may require additionalpedal force. Please be aware that even if the vehicle exhibits this condition, it meets all federal motor vehicle safety standards forbrake performance. Dealers are to replace the vacuum pump and vacuum pump belt. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.

Technician is to make sure the engine is cold and install the Multiple Diagnostic Interface along with Global Diagnostic System 2. Navigate to fuel system depressurize and at engine idle depressurize the fuel system. The fuel pressure sensor value should drop to 0 and the engine will stall. If a sensor is causing this concern the suspected sensor will not drop to 0 the engine will stall however the sensor will still read 30 to 40 pounds per square inch.

For vehicles with Regular Production Option Code NQH and NQ6 with other transfer case Diagnostic Trouble Codes. If the vehicle had a Diagnostic Trouble Code C0398 in the transfer case control module stored with any other codes such as C0392, C0396, C0306 or other codes related to rotational position sensor or actuator position sensor it is likely that is causing a C0398 to set and replacement of the actuator will likely not repair the vehicle. For vehicles with Regular Production Option Code NP0 and only have a Diagnostic Trouble Code C0398 stored in the transfer case control module, the technician should insure the transfer case control module calibrations are up-to-date in Tis2Web.

The monitor calculates the percent of oil life remaining, based on 3 pathways. The first pathway for oil life calculation is engine revolutions. The second pathway for oil life calculation is the mileage form the last rest for all General Motors powertrains except the Volt. The third pathway for oil life calculation is the amount of time the oil is in the engine. The Volt uses a 2 year timer instead of 1 year. It also uses the engine revolution counter. It does not use the mileage pathway to count down.

After making repairs use the Service Information Document titled "Reductant Fluid Quality Test (With or without Diagnostic Trouble Codes)" to evaluate and clear the Exhaust Fluid Quality Poor Driver Information Center message.

Fluid Low", "Exhaust Fluid Empty - Refill Now", "Exhaust Fluid Range: XXX" or "Service Exhaust Fluid - See Owners Now" on the Driver Information Center. If the technician is working on 2010 and 2011 model years campaign 11001 has now been released. Other vehicles technician will need to check the Body Control Module and the scan tool to insure the latest calibration are installed in both. Then use the scan tool to check Reductant System Data in the Engine Control Module. Ensure that all three diesel exhaust fluid level sensors are active with the diesel exhaust fluid tank level showing 100%. If the tank level is below 100% add up to 2 gallons of diesel exhaust fluid. After adding the fluid, use a scan tool to reset the reductant fluid tank level. When the reductant level warning shows "none" the diesel exhaust fluid system reset and reprogram is complete.

Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code P0101. Technician should follow published Service Information diagnostics for any Diagnostic Trouble Codes that are set. If during diagnosis the tech has found that the Airflow Leak Equivalency Ratio or Induction System Leak Indication is above or below the specification the tech will have to carefully check for leaks in the air intake.

If a technician has duplicated, or the customer description aligns with the speeds mentioned in the idle speed description tables, the idle speed should be considered a normal characteristic of current vehicle design.

When the DEF is frozen, the level sensor cannot determine the fluid level in the tank. If this occurs the logic of the PCM will assume a default fluid level. The logic will use the calculated range based on DEF dosing history and the assumed fluid level. If there is a high learned dosing rate and the fluid has not thawed to where the pins of the level sensor can function, there is a possibility the Exhaust Fluid Range message can set with the range from approximately 1609 km (1000 mi) to less than 482 km (300 mi), even though the tank is known to have fluid or be full. This is an operating characteristic of the system. However to increase or eliminate the range message, once the range drops below 482 km (300 mi), the DEF tank should be refilled. This should allow refill detection to occur and turn off the range indicator. The operator must be sure not to overfill the DEF tank using the instructions provided in this bulletin or in the owners manual. When in frozen tank status, refill detections are not allowed until the warning strategy reaches the point at which the distance remaining is less than 482 km (300 mi). The refill detection is dependent on the DEF thawing enough that the level sensor pins can be read. A fully frozen tank can take almost an hour to detect a refill, after the vehicle is started. This condition should not be confused with the situation described in PIP4864: Low Or Speed Limited Diesel Exhaust Fluid Message (DEF) Will Not Reset.
