Service Solution for Cummins Engine andWABCO OnGuard (Obtaining Cruise When AdaptiveCruise Is Interrupted).
Read full bulletin
Interruption of the forward radar system results in loss of both standard and adaptive cruise functions. The OnGuard system will recover (self-heal), once the issue goes away, but the drivercannot get Adaptive Cruise Control functional until the ignition switch is cycled. Applies to all New Cascadia vehicles built with Cummins engines and WABCO OnGuard.
Service Solution for Aero Height Control Interfering with RDF Alignment.
Read full bulletin
The Aerodynamic Height Control feature on the New Cascadia is a feature that raises and lowers the air suspension with relation to vehicle speed in order to reduce drag and achieve better fuel efficiency. The Hadley Smart Valve (HSV) is the module that makes this possible by applying and exhausting air from the rear axle suspension as necessary.
Service Solution for Cummins PTO functionality error software level 81Z-006.
Read full bulletin
Cascadia/Western Star 49X with Cummins engines combined with software level 81Z-006. A programming bug in the central gateway (CGW) for software level 81Z-006 will not allow completion of the preset #2 PTO engine speed. During PTO speed request for anything greater than the #1 set speed , if the Cummins ECU software determines that the increase in speed isn't ramping fast enough, it will refer to an engine torque control setting instead of the engine speed control setting.

issues to the After Treatment Control Module (ACM). These fault codes indicated that the ACM communication message was not received by the Motor Control Module (MCM) which in certain cases, led to a 25% engine de-rate situation. Further diagnosis revealed that the DT12 wiring harness was chafing and contacting the transmission TCU case. To reduce potential chafing areas, the proposed short-term containment was to route the wiring harness using additional tie straps. This communication applies to Freightliner and Western Star vehicles built with DT12 transmissions.

There is a short supply of exhaust clamps, part number DDE A6809950502, used as inlet and outlet exhaust clamps on GHG17 heavy duty engines (DD13, DD15 and DD16) with a 1-Box aftertreatment configuration. Exhaust clamp part number TCX T130158342AC2 may be used as a substitute for DDE A6809950502, but be aware of the different torque specs between the two parts.
Warranty Information Letter for Detroit New Service Replacement Engine SRT Update.
Read full bulletin
While validating Standard Repair Times (SRTs) for Detroit's new Gen 5 engine series, DTNA discovered an error in a pre-Gen 5 SRT for the New Service Replacement Engine Program. As a result, DTNA re-studied the SRT and concluded that time for removing/re-installing multiple components (e.g., exhaust manifold/turbo, engine sensor harness, rocker arm assemblies, etc.) should not be included.
Freightliner Service Bulletin for Air Cleaner Support Bracket Bolt Replacement.

Freightliner Service Bulletin for In Rail Battery Box Cable Rub Repair.
Read full bulletin
New Cascadia vehicles ordered with battery box data codes (282-014-BATTERY BOX[ES] MTD IN RL BOC or 29G-001-PLASTIC AUX BATT BOX MTD BTWN RLS) mounted on in rails at the back of the cab, have battery cables that are exposed to rubbing, which may result in excessive chaffing. Chaffing is observed more on the ground cable exiting the box. Typically, the battery rubs are found during the routine battery inspections. The symptoms related to excessive chafing could include low battery voltage faults, or slow or no engine crank.

Training Solutions for Fuel Leak Found at High Pressure Fuel Pump Weep Hole for Heavy Duty DD Engines.
Read full bulletin
Occasionally we see trucks come in with fuel leaking from the high pressure fuel pump weep hole. This is NOT a defect in the pump and further diagnostics need to be performed to find the root cause.
Freightliner Service Bulletin for Compressor Bracket Modification to Reduce Harness Chafing.
Read full bulletin
New Cascadia vehicles with Detroit HDEP engines may experience engine harness chafing at the harness support bracket that mounts on the air compressor. To avoid this issue, a new hole is drilled on the bracket to enhance the spacing with tie straps and reduce harness contact with the mounting bolt. Additional harness wrapping is added to reduce the harness chafing.

Service Solution for P4 New Cascadia with Manual Transmissions Does Not Use Bottom Of Clutch Switch For Starting.
Read full bulletin
On the prior P3 Legacy Cascadia vehicles with manual transmission, the Bottom of Clutch (BOC) switch could be uses as an interlock for the engine crank circuit. If programmed in the SAM Cab, the engine crank circuit would require the clutch to be fully depressed in order for the engine to crank. P3 also offered a neutral switch as an interlock that could be used instead of the BOC and would require the transmission to be neutral in order for the engine to crank. P4 New Cascadia only offers the neutral switch as the interlock for engine crank.

Updated Freightliner Service Bulletin for Rewiring the MPC2 Camera Fuse.
Read full bulletin
This bulletin replaces the version dated 9/15/20. Information has been added about raising the system voltage to normal range to clear the "Lost Communication to MPC" code. The multipurpose camera 2 (MPC2) power is supplied via fuse 14 (F14) in New Cascadia vehicles built before August 24, 2020. With this configuration, fault code 232/524127/9 - "Lost Communication to MPC" becomes active during low voltage disconnect (LVD) situations when load shedding is required to maintain critical systems. These instructions provide the procedure for moving the MPC2 power supply from fuse 14 (F14) to fuse 35 (F35). Moving the MPC2 power supply requires the installation of a new etched vehicle power distribution module (VPDM) cover to document the new MPC2 location.

New Cascadia vehicles manufactured from September 1, 2016 through June 28, 2020 with an optional high current single- or dual-pole trailer cord were equipped with an auto-reset type I circuit breaker mounted in the battery cable access (BCA) box. Since type I circuit breakers can mask potential issues by resetting every time an over-current condition occurs, Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) switched to a manual reset type III circuit breaker on June 29, 2020. This bulletin includes instructions for converting from a type I to a type III circuit breaker, how and where to reset a type III circuit breaker, and conditions to be aware of when troubleshooting a type III circuit breaker.

Customer Advisory Letter for Cab-to-Chassis Redundant Ground Strap Installation - FTL Service Bulletin 54-318.
Read full bulletin
Our records indicate that you are the owner of certain vehicles, and DTNA has decided to share the following documentation with you. On New Cascadia vehicles Penske/Black Horse units built prior to May 23, 2019, cab wiring can be damaged with an incorrect ground location or loose ground connections. This can result in inoperable LIN bus-related steering wheel switches, cruise control dropout, poor AM/FM radio reception, and an inoperable steering wheel clockspring. Installing a redundant ground strap from the main ground junction block (MGJB) to the frame will protect the vehicle from unexpected loss of cab grounding, and restore proper operation of the steering wheel switches, the radio, and the steering wheel clockspring.

Revision removed steps instructing removal and installation of wheels. Daimler Trucks North America has released a new axle shaft to hub rubber O-ring (part number 11-30728-000) as a replacement for the paper gasket (part number 11-14418-000). The new O-ring will provide better sealing and is reusable. It is quicker and easier to use compared to the paper gasket, because using a paper gasket requires cleaning the hub when the axle shaft is removed.

Though the backup light harness is long enough to connect to the backup light switch, it may be short enough that the wire seals in the connector can be stressed. Moisture entering through the seals can cause corrosion, resulting in a bad connection and/or failure of the switch. As a result, backup lights and, if equipped, the backup alarm, may not function when the vehicle is shifted into reverse.
