Due to a shortage of electronic components, Business Class M2 and 108SD/114SD vehicles built from September 2021 were assembled using low content bulkhead modules (BHM). On these vehicles, the heated mirror control circuit is hardwired (non-multiplexed) instead of being controlled by the BHM (multiplexed).

Due to continued semi-conductor and microprocessor component supply chain challenges, a redesigned bulkhead module (BHM) control unit will be introduced on the M2 106, M2 112, 108SD, and 114SD models with production schedule dates on and after September 27, 2021. With reference to Table 1 below, the goal of this communication is to provide the part numbers of the affected modules in question and Aftermarket decisions based upon the situation. If you obtain or have any modules in inventory, the current software and Truck models are provided. These module part numbers are now on manual allocation when ordered from DTNA until the situation is rectified.

Model Year 2022 Freightliner, Western Star, Freightliner Custom Chassis, and Thomas Built Bus vehicles manufactured with the following engines have been built without a Particulate Matter (PM)/Soot sensor: DD15 Gen 5 (Gats 2.0) (with a June 2021 or later GHG build date) DD13 Gen4 (1-box) (with a June 2021 or later GHG build date) Cummins B6.7 (with a June 2021 or later GHG build date) Cummins X15 with ratings of 400-500HP (with a June 2021 or later GHG build date) As a result, the vehicle has a non-conforming On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) system. The engine manufacturers will pay to install the OBD PM sensor and corresponding software through a recall once sensors become available.

This document applies to Freightliner M2 Business Class used in a Fire/Emergency application and equipped with FTL flat leaf spring rear suspensions. The FTL flat leaf spring rear suspension permits the spring pack to shift laterally within the spring hanger brackets. Under heavy cornering load applications, the spring pack can shift laterally and contact the sidewall of the spring hanger bracket. Driver of the vehicle will detect an audible popping or knocking noise from the rear suspension when turning the vehicle.

Two new illustrations have been added to demonstrate proper application of butterfly tie straps on the transmission. ---Allison transmission wiring harness chafing causes disruption to gear engagement and fault code generation. To reduce chafing, the wiring is routed using stand off brackets and tie straps to minimize contact with the transmission parts. This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with on-board diagnostics (OBDs) manufactured after 2016.
