If the concern can be replicated under these conditions, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-03A > Diagnosis and Testing > Engine Temperature > Pinpoint Test DL "Cylinder Head Temperature (CHT) Sensor" and repair as directed. Do not attempt to modify the orientation of the CHT sensor. If diagnostics lead to CHT replacement, inspect connector C1164 for terminal issues and replace the pigtail if necessary. If the concern persists, thoroughly perform the Engine Cooling System Flushing procedure in WSM, Section 303-03A > General Procedures. Do not use the VC1 flush additive.

When performing the fill and bleed procedure, it is important that the vacuum filling and bleeding aspect of the procedure is performed thoroughly. It is also not recommended to order a replacement module using a vehicle identification number (VIN) from a different vehicle. Most modules on these affected vehicles are VIN/vehicle specific and hardware variations between modules do exist. Swapping a module from a vehicle or ordering a module using a different vehicle/VIN can cause ineffective repairs and additional vehicle down time. Make sure all appropriate Workshop Manual (WSM) procedures are followed when diagnosing the condition prior to all module replacements and only order modules using the correct VIN.

This is an intentional optical characteristic designed to meet safety and performance standards. This transition is a normal attribute of the vehicles lighting signature and is most visible during high-beam operation. No repair is required as the system is functioning to specification. Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 417-01 Exterior Lighting > Description and Operation > Exterior Lighting - Overview has been revised to clarify this condition as an operating characteristic of the vehicle.

Some 2021-2023 Bronco Sport and 2020-2023 Escape vehicles may exhibit a rattle or flapping noise coming from the rear air extractors while driving.

Read full bulletin

This may be due to the normal operation of the rear air extractors. To determine if this is a normal condition, perform a road test at 40 mph (65 km/h) or above. Inspect if the noise is coming from the rear extractors. During the road test alternate air conditioning (A/C) between fresh mode and air re-circulation mode. If the noise is eliminated when the A/C is in fresh mode, this is considered a normal characteristic of the vehicle and no repairs should be performed.

with all wheel drive (AWD) may exhibit chatter/shudder during low speed turning events. This may be due to fluid contamination in the rear drive unit (RDU). Drain and refill the RDU, refer to Workshop Manual Section (WSM) 205-02. Drive for 5 miles (8 km) in stop and go conditions with right and left turns and re-evaluate.
