The text messaging feature will be available on the next ignition cycle. However with iPhones text messages cannot be responded to when using the infotainment system, they can only be received. For android devices pair the phone to the system during the pairing process the phone will ask you to allow the vehicle to access the device contacts. A second question will pop up on the device asking to allow the vehicle to access the message access profile. Both have to be allowed for the text messaging feature to work.

A customer may complain of misfires or roughness on cold start up with a P0300 diagnostic trouble code. Technician is to add coolant dye to the system and run the engine through warm up to circulate the dye. Pressurize the cooling system after a cold soak and inspect the cylinder with a bore scope for coolant dye. Dye is used to identify coolant over residual fuel being that might be left in the cylinder. The technician is not to replace the cylinder head as it will not correct this concern. In some cases it is necessary to remove the head for inspection. Do not replace the engine for small surface pock marks or a pitting appearance this is normal and do not connect to coolant passages. Usually if porosity is present there will be a break in the carbon ring. Only replace the engine if true porosity is found. Technician is to call Product Quality Center with the latest version of bulletin 02-07-30-029 if porosity is found and engine replacement is required.

vehicles that have a resonance type vibration occurs between 40 to 60 MPH. In most cases the engine must be under a slight load such as Air Conditioning compressor engagement, light throttle, and in 6th gear Torque Converter Clutch applied. Technician will relax the engine and transmission mounts, then the exhaust system by loosening the front pipe studs. Also work down the system disconnecting one exhaust hanger at a time. Then take the vehicle on a test drive to verify there was improvement. If additional steps are required place two sets of exhaust dampeners one set before and one set after the front catalytic converter. It may be required to move the pair of dampeners along the exhaust system to get the best results.

Ensure that the customer?s concern does not relate to the normal characteristic described in the latest version of PIC5839. Technician will call OnStar to insure OnStar has a good location on the vehicle. If the OnStar unit status is disabled the technician will explain to the customer that there is an over the air update available for the OnStar system that may repair this as well but they will have to contact OnStar and accept terms and conditions for a free 5 year basic plan. If the customer does NOT accept terms and conditions because they do not want OnStar service, advise the customer that engineering is currently evaluating other methods to repair this concern if the unit status is listed as disabled and the customer does not wish to reactivate.

Engine Soon Malfunction Indicator Lamp. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code P0442. Technician will need to review Techlink article from May 2013 titled "Using the Evaporative Emissions System Tester" Technician will need to follow these steps to help diagnose the issue. First after the P0442 has been verified do not disturb any of the fuel system components. The technician now can use the scan tool to close the Evaporative Emissions System. If possible change the tank pressure sensor units from inch_H2O to milimeter_Hg for better resolution. Now the vehicle can be stared to monitor the tank pressure sensor output value for approximately two minutes. If the tank pressure sensor value does change, pressurize the fuel tank side of the purge solenoid with the GE 41413-A / J 41413-A and the necessary adaptors. Now add smoke and allow pressure to stabilize for 2 minutes. If smoke is allowed to pass through the purge solenoid, replace the purge solenoid. If the tank pressure sensor value does not change, then install CH-48096 adaptor between the purge line from the canister and the purge solenoid. With the Evaporative Emissions System closed, pressurize the system through the CH-48096 adaptor and allow the system to completely stabilize, by observing the Press / Vac Gauge for a minimum of 5 minutes. Now add smoke to the system with GE 41413-A / J 41413-A after system stabilization. Now inspect the purge solenoid, engine side, fuel cap, canister vent solenoid filter and any line quick connects. When the leak is unable to be located, test under a vacuum condition. his type of leak may be detected by using the scan tool Purge/Seal function to create a vacuum in the Evaporative Emissions System and then observe the FTP sensor parameter for vacuum decay.

If the paper cannot be removed, grease lift-gate side wedges. If the paper can be removed, reset the wedges by loosen lift-gate side wedge center screw to allow center portion to "ratchet" along internal detents freely, pull center adjustment portion of lift-gate side wedges to full downward position, close lift-gate to full latch engagement then use power to close lift-gate system (if available), close manually on non-power lift gates and do not slam, open lift gate, and pull the center adjustment portion down one additional detent & torque screw 5.0 newton meters if wedge adjustment does not have enough travel for the one additional detent add washer under the two lift-gate side wedge attachments to shim as required. Now to inspect the lift gate wedges by opening the lift gate, insert paper between the body side & lift-gate side wedges, and then close the lift gate. If the paper cannot be removed, grease lift-gate side wedges. If the concern is still present adjust lift-gate latch striker.

customers may comment that the malfunction indicator lamp is on, poor performance and reduced power mode on. Technicians may find DTC P0641 or various others set. Not all of the effects listed may be experienced. However, the different effects and driver notifications may be caused by one of the wires in the ECM harness being chafed or cut. Due to the cause of the condition, and the positions of the wires in the harness, it is unlikely that more than one circuit will be affected by the condition. This condition may be caused by the ECM wiring harness rubbing on the ECM bracket. The harness may have chafing or damage to the wires. Contact with the edge of the bracket may result in a rub-through of the wires within that harness.
